Grant County Community Foundation 2022 Grant Cycle
Grant County Community Foundation is pleased to announce a 2022 grant cycle focused on supporting nonprofit organizations that meet the needs of our community and that work toward creating lasting and positive change. These grant awards come from charitable funds created by donors to fulfill their personal giving goals or from the Grant County Community Foundation’s unrestricted funds.
Grant applications are invited from any nonprofit that is a 501(c)3 organization, or has a fiscal sponsor who is a 501(c)3 organization, who conducts activities within southwest New Mexico for the benefit of those communities, and who meet the requirements of the grants as outlined. Please be sure to review our Guidelines for Grant Applications here for full information on our application procedure before completing the grant application forms.
There are various grants your organization can apply for in this 2022 Grant Cycle, all of which are listed below. Organizations may apply for more than one grant, using the application specific to that grant.
Jane Elise Hendricks/Sebert Brewer Charitable Trust
Often lacking the critical mass or grant-writing acumen to attract major funding, nonprofits in rural communities are hungry for any resources they can glean. We are fortunate to live in communities were $25 still makes a difference.
Grant County Community Foundation’s Sebert Brewer Memorial Fund, having received a generous donation from the Jane Elise Hendricks Charitable Trust, will award two $5,000 grants (or one $10,000 grant) to nonprofit organizations doing business in the four-county area served by Grant County Community Foundation to address critical but unmet needs in the area.
These grant dollars can be applied to systems software, office hardware, part-time personnel, general operating costs, etc., where a small grant can have a significant effect on an organization’s ability to bridge a gap in resources. Applications must indicate a critical need that an organization cannot currently meet.

Disability and Accessibility
People with disabilities, or those at risk for a development disability, face a number of barriers to participation in social and work environments in our society. A large body of evidence also indicates that people with disabilities are more likely to live below the federal poverty level.
This grant is designed to address some of these inequities and is funded by the LifeQuest Endowed Fund at the Grant County Community Foundation. It is open to nonprofit organizations in the four-county area served by Grant County Community Foundation (Grant, Hidalgo, Catron, Luna). As accessibility and disability are wide ranging, grant applications could cover programs that address issues as diverse as adaptive equipment, access to services, transportation, inclusion/integration in community, disability rights, ability to move independently, education, or assistive technology. A grant of up to $10,000 will be awarded.

Luna County Sustainability
Our northern Chihuahuan Desert, with its high number of sunny days and low humidity, along with low-cost housing, beautiful mountain scenery and low population, makes it a very desirable place to live for retirees. The resulting "outside" dollars into our economy make Luna County a great place to live. But like all deserts, the Chihuahuan Desert, and the communities on which it depends, is fragile. Limited potable water, dust storms, high summer temperatures, and fragile plant and animal ecosystems create a low human carrying capacity for Luna Country, and the effect of expansion on local communities is significant. This is especially true if we consider the well-being of future generations.
The Luna County Ranchettes Owners Association, a component fund of Grant County Community Foundation, is concerned about this loss of local sustainability, and is offering two grants of up to $10,000 each to nonprofit organizations who can address issues of sustainability in Luna County. This is a broad definition, and can range anywhere from birth control to education, water conservation to youth engagement, environmental to innovative local programs—in short, solutions to potentially help prevent the effects of climate change and species extinction at the local level.
Applicants must either do business in Luna County, or serve the communities of Luna County.
