The Science Education Initiative of Grant County
(SEI-GC)
The Science Education Initiative of Grant County (SEI-GC) is a not for profit organization that supports instructors in providing high quality science education. SEI-GC believes that teachers can transform their science classrooms into places that fuel curiosity and enable collaboration. Teachers prepare our students to be the problem solvers of tomorrow, but who prepares teachers to meet the challenging needs of today’s students? At SEI-GC we are working to provide local training and support for our teachers, school administrators, and science coaches as they implement the innovative, newly adopted NM STEM Ready! Science Standards. Our work has already helped more than 75 teachers in our region and we hope to reach all the science educators in Grant County in the coming years. The training we provide gives teachers the tools they need to start engaging students in the practice of science so that they are prepared for post-secondary careers and college programs in STEM fields. Without this investment, the students of Grant County are at risk of not reaching their full potential in their careers, at college, and as citizens in our democracy.
